Development of Skechers shoes
Robert Greenberg began his career back in the 1960s. He has worked in a variety of retail environments, from selling wigs to beauty salons, from importing designer jeans to running a roller skate store. As a result, the entrepreneur founded the brand L.A. gear. He was one of the first to work with the film industry, licensed to portray the character from the 1982 film The Extra-Terrestrial. However, in the 1990s, Robert left the company and took up a new project. Seeing how the leather boots of Dr. Martens are popular with various subcultures, he decided to become a distributor of the brand. Greenberg later focused on the design, development and marketing of his own unique Skechers product. He saw an opportunity to sell casual street shoes. The first were lace-up boots called Cascades boot.
In 1993 there was a breakthrough. Then the brand introduced a new design "Chrome Dome". It was a cross between sneakers and boots. The shoes were distinguished by a high embossed sole - what the youth of that time needed. In March 1995, license agreements were signed with Genova Incorporated and Signal/American to manufacture casual wear for men.
